In the 1990s, Jay Hooks gained a loyal following in the Texas blues- rock scene, renowned for his gritty, rock-tinged electric blues. His powerful guitar work and raw, emotive vocals resonated deeply with audiences, establishing him as a standout performer.  Jay's music captures the true essence of Texas blues, blending traditional roots with a modern rock edge that appeals to a wide range of listeners.

In 1997, Jay's relentless dedication paid off when he recorded his debut album, Hooked Up, at Houston's legendary SugarHill Recording Studios.  The record delivered a collection of raw, authentic blues tracks that struck a chord with fans and critics alike.  The album's success drew the attention of European label Provogue Records, leading to a record deal and the release of his self-titled follow-up, Jay Hooks, in 2000.

That album was met with critical acclaim, expanding Jay's fan base across the Atlantic and cementing his reputation as a formidable blues guitarist.  Two years later, he released Red Line, further showcasing his fiery musicianship and soulful intensity.  Jay toured extensively throughout Europe, captivating audiences with his energetic live performances and genuine connection to the blues.  His authenticity and passion have made him a beloved figure in the international blues-rock community.

In the summer of 2024, Jay returned to the studio with a renewed sense of purpose, determined to create his most heartfelt work yet.  The sessions were charged with emotion as he poured his soul into every note.  The result is Tequila & Bullets, released on September 22, 2025, through Joplin Street Music.  The record hit radio in mid-October and continues to gain momentum, marking not just a comeback, but a powerful new chapter in Jay Hooks' musical journey.
